ZIPP Wheels for Raleigh 70.3!

This year, I’ll be adding some extra flare to my Raleigh 70.3 experience. I’ll be riding on a ZIPP 404/808 wheel set combo for the race. The past few months, I’ve been contemplating whether or not to buy a set of carbon wheels (new or used). I’ve read and heard differing opinions on whether or not they make you faster with less effort. I thought that using them for Raleigh 70.3 would be a great way to test this out, without paying $2000 for a set of wheels. I remember seeing some wheel vendors at the expo last year in Raleigh, so I did some searching and came across RaceDayWheels.com. They have a variety of options and sizes available for rent. For the set that I’m using, it will cost $160 to rent. I’ll likely get the $25 insurance too. Last year, I averaged 17.5 miles per hour for the bike leg. I’m stronger and faster on the bike this time around. It would be great to average around 19-20+ mph at Raleigh this year!
