Ironman 70.3 Raleigh – 2016

raleigh-70.3-half-ironmanI’m signed-up and excited about training for and participating in my first Half Ironman event, the 2016 Ironman 70.3 Raleigh. I registered fairly early on, September 28th. The general entry fee was $275, and I ended up buying the full refund plan for an additional $40 (I don’t plan on using it, but life happens). After processing fees, that left me with a grand total of $333.90.

I was determined to sign up for the 2016 Raleigh 70.3 Half Ironman. Soon after the 2015 event ended, I stalked the Raleigh 70.3 website for quite some time, well before registration was open for 2016. The Raleigh Ironman 70.3 is THE closest Half Ironman event to me (three hours away). Having worked in that area for almost two years, I love and miss the city of Raleigh, the town of Cary, and the RTP area in general. I still have a lot of friends and contacts in the area too.

Now that I am registered, my training is much more focused. I swim, bike, and run with Raleigh 70.3 on my mind. On days that I feel unmotivated to train, I’m motivated by the fact that I want to do well in Raleigh.

I have more events planned for my 2nd triathlon season, but Raleigh 70.3 will be one of my main races for sure!
